Special Stitches

Before you start, let’s learn the one special stitch that creates the cloud-like texture. Don't worry, it's easier than it looks!

MB (Make Bobble):

1. Knit into the front of the next stitch, but do not slip it off the left needle.
2. Knit into the back of the same stitch.
3. Knit into the front of the same stitch again.
4. Knit into the back of the same stitch one more time. You have now increased 1 stitch into 4 stitches. Slip the original stitch off the left needle.
5. Turn your work. Purl these 4 stitches.
6. Turn your work. Knit these 4 stitches.
7. Turn your work. Purl these 4 stitches.
8. Turn your work. Now, using your left needle, lift the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stitches over the 1st stitch, one at a time, and off the right needle. You are left with 1 stitch. This is your completed bobble.

Getting Started: The Ribbed Brim

We'll begin with a stretchy, neat ribbed brim that will help the hat stay snugly on the baby's head.
