Crochet Soft Textured Leaf Pattern Pullover

Materials Needed:

  • 5 skeins of soft bulky yarn (approx. 100 yards per skein)
  • 6.5 mm (K) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Measuring tape

Gauge:

8 stitches x 6 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch. Adjust hook size if necessary.

Stitch Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • tr = treble crochet
  • sk = skip
  • sp = space

Pattern Instructions:

Body of Sweater (make 2)

  1. Start with a foundation chain of 60 stitches.
  2. Row 1: dc into the 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across (58 dc). Turn.
  3. Row 2: ch 2 (counts as dc), *tr in the next stitch, sk 1, sc in the next; repeat from * across, ending with dc in the top of the turning ch (58 stitches). Turn.
  4. Row 3: ch 2, *sc in the tr stitch, sk 1, tr in the sc; repeat from * across, ending with dc in the top of the turning ch. Turn.
  5. Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures 22 inches or desired length for the body. Fasten off.

Sleeves (make 2)

  1. Start with a foundation chain of 30 stitches.
  2. Row 1: dc into the 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across (28 dc). Turn.
  3. Row 2: ch 2, *tr in the next, sk 1, sc in the next; repeat from * across (28 stitches). Turn.
  4. Row 3: ch 2, *sc in the tr stitch, sk 1, tr in the sc; repeat from * across (28 stitches). Turn.
  5. Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures 18 inches or desired length for the sleeve. Fasten off.

Assembly:

  1. Place the front and back panels together, with the right sides facing each other.
  2. Join the sides together using a slip stitch or whip stitch, leaving openings for the sleeves.
  3. Attach each sleeve by sewing the sleeve panels into the armhole openings.
  4. To create a neckline, attach yarn at the neckline and work a round of sc to finish off the edge.

Finishing:

Weave in all loose ends and block the sweater for best results. Your cozy leaf patterned pullover is now ready to wear!
