Materials:
- Yarn: Light worsted/DK weight cotton yarn in natural color
- Hook: 4.5mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
12 stitches and 8 rows = 4 inches in double crochet pattern
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- dc: double crochet
- sc: single crochet
- st: stitch
Instructions:
Body Panel (Make 2):
- Ch 84.
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3, dc in each dc across, turn.
- Row 3-10: Repeat Row 2 for pattern.
- Row 11: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, *dc in next 4 dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc; repeat from * across, turn.
- Row 12-30: Continue in established pattern alternating rows of solid dc and rows with ch 1 spaces.
Sleeves:
- Ch 50.
- Rows 1-20: Repeat pattern rows as established in the body panels.
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
- Sew shoulder seams of body panels together.
- Align and sew the sleeves to the body, making sure the rows line up consistently.
- Sew side seams of the body and underarm seams of the sleeves.
Edging:
- Join yarn at the bottom hem of the cardigan.
- Round 1: Sc evenly around the hem, up the front, around the neck, and down the other front, making sure not to stretch the fabric. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in each sc around, making adjustments in corners as needed to keep flat. Join with sl st.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends.
