Crochet Breezy Flared Lace Poncho Free Pattern
Materials:
- Lightweight cotton yarn (approx. 500g)
- 5 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends
Gauge:
16 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in lace stitch.
Finished Size:
Approximately 30 inches wide and 30 inches long.
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Double crochet (dc)
- Cluster stitch (cl)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
Pattern Instructions:
Body:
- Start with a foundation chain of 72 ch.
- Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across. (70 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, dc in next stitch, *cl in the next stitch, dc in the next stitch; repeat from * across. End with a dc in the top of the turning ch. (35 clusters, 35 dc)
- Row 3: Ch 3, turn, *dc in cluster, ch 1; repeat from * across. End with a dc in the last cluster. (70 dc, 35 ch-1 spaces)
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures approximately 30 inches from the beginning.
Joining the Two Panels:
- Make a second panel following the same pattern.
- With both panels facing right side up, place them together. Using a slip stitch, join the tops of the two panels together, leaving an opening in the middle for the neck (about 10 inches).
Finishing:
- To finish, create a border by working 1 round of sc around the entire poncho. In the corners, work 3 sc to ensure a smooth edge.
- Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
