Instructions

Body of the Ruana

1. CO 120 stitches.
2. Row 1-10: *K2, P2*, rep from * to * across.
3. Row 11 (Cable Row): *C4F, P2, K2, P2*, rep from * to * across.
4. Row 12: *K2, P2, K2, P2*, rep from * to * across.
5. Repeat Rows 11 and 12 until the piece measures approximately 60 inches or desired length.

Lateral Braids

1. Pick up stitches along each long edge of the ruana, one edge at a time.
2. Row 1: K2, P2 across.
3. Row 2: P2, K2 across.
4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for 5 inches, BO loosely.

Adding Fringe

1. Cut strands of yarn approximately 12 inches long.
2. Fold in half, inserting the loop into the edge, pull through and secure.
3. Attach 5-7 fringe clusters at regular intervals.

Finishing

Weave in all loose ends using the tapestry needle. Block the ruana to measurements and sew any necessary seams.
