Crochet Whimsical Fawn Hooded Capelet Free Pattern

Materials Needed:
- Aran weight yarn (200-300 yards in main color)
- Aran weight yarn (50 yards in contrast color for the antlers)
- 5.5 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers (optional)
Gauge:
14 double crochets = 4 inches.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- tr = treble crochet
Instructions:
Hooded Capelet Body
- Chain 70 to start (this number can be adjusted for size).
- Row 1: dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each ch across. (68 dc)
- Row 2: ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, dc in the next st and in each st across. (68 dc)
- Row 3-20: Repeat Row 2 until desired length is reached.
- To create the hood, continue as follows:
- Row 21: Ch 1, across the last row, dc in first st, then go back and dc in last st to complete the hood section.
Finishing the Capelet
- Fold the last two rows together to form the hood, and slip stitch or slip stitch and sew the side seams of the hood together.
- To create the scallop edge: Ch 5, sl st in the next st for a fawn-like edge all around the bottom of the capelet.
Creating the Antlers
- With the contrast yarn, chain 10.
- Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in the next 8 ch. (9 sc)
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. (9 sc)
- Repeat Row 2 until it measures 3 inches, then fasten off.
- Make two antlers and sew them to the top of the hood.
