Crochet Textured Striped Pom Pom Beanie Free Pattern

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in cream, brown, and dusty pink
• Crochet hook size H/8 (5 mm)
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Abbreviations:

• ch: chain
• sc: single crochet
• dc: double crochet
• st: stitch
• sl st: slip stitch
• rep: repeat
• sp: space

Instructions:

Ribbed Band:

1. Using cream yarn, ch 9.
2. Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and across (8 sts). Ch 1, turn.
3. Row 2-64: Sc in back loop only across. Ch 1, turn.
4. Join row ends together with sl st to form a band.

Body of Hat:

1. Round 1: Ch 1, work 64 sc evenly around the edge of the band. Join with sl st. Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn.
2. Round 2: Dc in each st around. Change color to brown at the end of the round. Ch 1, turn.
3. Round 3: Using brown, sc, *(ch 2, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc)* around. Join, change color to pink. Ch 3, turn.
4. Round 4: Using pink, *(dc in ch-2 sp, dc in next sc)* around. Join. Ch 1, turn.
5. Round 5-6: Rep Round 3-4. Change color to cream at end of Round 6. Ch 1, turn.
6. Round 7: Sc in each st around. Join, ch 3, turn.
7. Rounds 8-14: Continue in established pattern, alternating colors as in previous rounds.

Shaping the Crown:

1. Round 15: *(Dec: dc in next 2 sts together, dc in next 6 sts)* around. Join, ch 3, turn.
2. Round 16: *(Dec, dc in next 5 sts)* around. Join, change color accordingly. Ch 1, turn.
3. Round 17: Continue decreasing similarly until the top closes.

Pom-Pom:

1. Using all three colors together, wrap yarn around your fingers or a pom-pom maker until desired fullness is reached.
2. Tie securely in the middle and cut loops.
3. Attach pom-pom to the top of the beanie.
