Crochet Textured Twisted Cowl with Floral Accent Free Pattern

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn (approx. 200 yards)
  • 6.0 mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge

10 dc x 10 rows = 4 inches.

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • dc = double crochet
  • sc = single crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • rnd = round

Instructions

Cowl

  1. Chain 45 (or desired length for your cowl circumference)
  2. Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in each ch across (43 dc). Turn.
  3. Row 2: Ch 2, *skip next dc, dc in next dc, dc in skipped dc (V stitch made)*; repeat from * to * across. Turn.
  4. Row 3: Ch 2, dc in each V stitch across (43 dc). Turn.
  5. Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until piece measures approximately 12 inches in height.
  6. Fold piece in half and sl st the ends together, ensuring the seam is on the inside.

Floral Accent

  1. Using a smaller hook (5.0 mm), make a magic circle.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in magic circle. Pull tight to close. (6 sc).
  3. Round 2: *2 sc in each sc around* (12 sc).
  4. Round 3: *sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc* (18 sc).
  5. Round 4: *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* (24 sc). Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

  1. Using the tail, sew the floral accent to the side of the cowl.
  2. Weave in all ends.
