Crochet Textured Coastal Wave Handbag Free Pattern
Materials:
- Weight 5 cotton yarn (approx. 200 yards)
- 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Stitch markers
- Handle (purchased or handmade)
- Optional decorative shell charm
Stitch Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- hdc - half double crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- st - stitch
Instructions:
Base of the Bag:
- Ch 36.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (35 sc).
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, hdc in next, dc in next 3 st, hdc in next, sc across to last 2 st, finish with hdc and sc in last st (special wave stitch).
- Repeat Row 2 until base measures 12 inches.
Building the Sides:
- Next Row: Ch 1, working in the sides, (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) in each side stitch until complete.
- Now join the base with a sl st to form a circle.
Creating the Waves:
- Round 1: Ch 1, *sc in next, hdc in next, (dc, hdc, sc) in next stitch (wave made), repeat from * around.
- Round 2: Continue as previous row, adding more wave stitches as you desire until bag height reaches approximately 10 inches.
Finishing:
- Bind off and weave in ends.
- Attach handle securely to each side of the bag.
- Optional: Add a decorative shell charm to the handle for extra flair!
