Crochet Snug Textured Ribbed Cowl with Oversized Buttons Free Pattern
This snug cowl is designed to provide warmth and style. It incorporates a unique textured stitch along with a ribbed border, making it both functional and fabulous!
Materials Required:
- Bulky yarn (approx. 120 yards)
- Crochet hook size K (6.5 mm)
- 3 oversized buttons
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
8 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in textured stitch. Gauge is not crucial but may affect yarn usage.
Sizes:
This pattern is adjustable with an easy-to-follow structure. Instructions will be given for a standard adult size.
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Double Crochet (dc)
- Single Crochet (sc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
- Back Loop Only (BLO)
Pattern Instructions:
- Ch 70 (or to desired width). Join to form a loop, being careful not to twist.
- Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc in the same st as ch 2, *dc into the next st, sc in the next, repeat from * around.
- Round 2: Ch 2, *dc in the next dc, sc in the next sc, repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2.
- Repeat Round 2 until piece measures 10 inches from the start.
- Ribbed Border: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st.
- For the buttonholes, sc in first 5 stitches, ch 3, skip 3 stitches, sc in the next 5. Repeat once more for total of 2 buttonholes on the border.
- Continue in sc to finish the round, making sure to incorporate buttonholes. Join with sl st.
- Fasten off and weave in the ends.
- Attach buttons to the opposite side of the cowl for a chic detail.
