Crochet Rugged Textured Alpine Cowl Free Pattern
Materials:
- Bulky weight yarn (around 100 yards)
- Size N (10mm) crochet hook
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
8 stitches and 8 rows in 4” (10cm) square using the alpine stitch.
Finished Size:
Approx. 12 inches wide by 10 inches tall.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- st = stitch
- sl st = slip stitch
Instructions:
Foundation Chain:
Ch 38.
Row 1:
Starting in the 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across (36 dc). Turn.
Row 2:
Ch 1, *dc in next st, (fpdc in next st, bpdc in next st)*; repeat from * to * across. End with a dc in the last st. Turn.
Row 3:
Ch 1, *fpdc in next st, bpdc in next st*; repeat from * to * across. End with a dc in the last st. Turn.
Row 4:
Repeat Row 2.
Row 5:
Repeat Row 3.
Repeats:
Continue repeating Rows 2-5 until the cowl measures 10 inches or desired height.
Finishing:
Fasten off and weave in all ends. To join the cowl, fold it in half and slip stitch the ends together, or you can sew them together to increase durability.
Care Instructions:
Hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry.
