Crochet Festive Hexagon Poinsettia Blanket Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn in red, green, and white
  • Crochet hook size H/8 (5mm)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • ch: chain
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • sc: single crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • tr: treble crochet
  • hex: hexagon

Pattern Instructions:

Hexagon Motif:

Center Flower (Poinsettia):

  1. With red yarn, make a magic circle. Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in circle. Sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)
  2. Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st* around. Sl st to top of ch 3. (18 dc)
  3. Fasten off red, join green. Ch 4 (counts as tr), tr in same st, *ch 2, sk next st, (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr) in next st*, repeat around. Join with sl st. (6 tr clusters, 6 ch-2 spaces)

Background:

  1. With white yarn, join in any ch-2 space, ch 3, 2 dc in same space, ch 1, *3 dc in next ch-2 space, ch 1* around. Sl st to top of ch 3. (36 dc, 6 ch-1 spaces)
  2. Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each ch-2 space. Sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.

Assembly:

Arrange hexagons in desired pattern, joining with slip stitch or by sewing together with tapestry needle using white yarn.

Edging:

  1. Join red yarn in any corner, ch 1, sc evenly around entire blanket, working 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st.
  2. Repeat with green yarn.
