Ethereal Gradient Wave Wrap

Make your own stunning wrap that captures the beauty of the evening sky. This crochet pattern uses a gradient yarn to create a flowing, wavy design that drapes beautifully over your shoulders.

Materials:

  • Sport Weight Yarn in Gradient Colors (approximately 400–500 yards)
  • Crochet Hook size G (4.0 mm)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends
  • Measuring tape

Gauge:

18 stitches x 10 rows = 4 inches (in wavy stitch pattern).

Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • dc = double crochet
  • tr = triple crochet
  • st = stitch
  • sp = space

Stitch Pattern:

Wavy Stitch: (Multiple of 6 + 2)

Row 1: Ch 102. (1 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 2, skip 2 ch, 1 dc in next ch) repeat to end. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, (2 dc in ch-2 sp, 1 dc in next dc) repeat to end. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, (1 dc in first dc, ch 2, skip 1 dc, 1 dc in next dc) repeat to end. Turn.

Instructions:

Body of the Wrap:

1. Start with your gradient yarn in the lightest color. 
2. Begin with the wavy stitch pattern: Row 1 - Repeat as per the stitch pattern instructions.
3. Continue working the wavy pattern until you reach approximately 56 inches wide.
4. As you progress, switch to darker shades of your gradient yarn every 5 rows for a soft transition.
5. After your wrap measures 26 inches in length from the starting chain, you will start to decrease for the final edge.

Decreasing Rows:

1. Ch 3, dc in next st, *(ch 2, skip next 2 st, dc in next st)* repeat until last 3 st, dc in last 3 st, turn.
2. Decrease every other row until you have about 12 st left.
3. Finish off yarn and weave in all ends.

Finishing:
