Enchanted Fairy Tale Castle Wall Hanging

Materials

  • DK or lightweight worsted yarn in:
    • Sky Blue (for background)
    • Beige (for castle walls)
    • Red (for roofs)
    • Brown (for door)
    • Green (for grass)
  • 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Hanging rod or dowel

Gauge

20 stitches = 4 inches in single crochet.

Finished Size

Approximately 16 x 16 inches.

Instructions

Base of the Castle (using Beige)

  1. Chain 37.
  2. Row 1: In 2nd chain from hook, SC across (36 SC).
  3. Row 2-5: Chain 1, turn, SC across.

Towers (make 3 using Beige, Red for roofs)

For each tower, make as follows:

  1. Chain 10.
  2. Row 1: SC in 2nd chain from hook, SC in each chain across (9 SC).
  3. Continue to build up in rows for 10 more rows (keep it straight).
  4. For the roof, switch to Red yarn and chain 5, SC into each chain back down to the tower.

Background (using Sky Blue)

  1. Attach Sky Blue yarn and chain 37 again.
  2. Row 1: SC across, then switch to a new row of Grass Green underneath the castle base.

Assembly

  1. Position the castle and towers on the background piece.
  2. Use slip stitch or whip stitch to attach.
  3. Weave in all ends, and optionally attach to a dowel for hanging.
