Materials:

• Sport weight yarn (approx. 800 yards)
• Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Gauge:

15 double crochets (dc) and 8 rows = 4 inches in lace pattern.

Dimensions:

Finished shawl measures approximately 60 inches wide and 30 inches long.

Stitch Guide:

• ch - chain
• dc - double crochet
• sk - skip
• sl st - slip stitch
• shell stitch: [2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc] all in the same stitch
• space stitches: [1 dc, ch 1] in the next stitch for lacy sections.

Pattern Instructions:

Foundation Row:

• Ch 60.

Row 1:

• Dc in the 4th ch from hook. Dc in each ch across. (58 dc)

Row 2:

• Ch 3 (counts as first dc). Turn. Dc in the next dc, *sk 1 dc, shell stitch in next dc; repeat from * across ending with dc in last dc. (17 shells)

Row 3:

• Ch 3, turn. Dc in next dc. *Ch 1, sk shell and dc in next dc; repeat from * across ending with dc in top of turning chain. (58 stitches)

Row 4:

• Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1). Turn. Shell stitch in next dc, *sk 1 dc, ch 1, shell stitch in next dc; repeat from * across, ending with dc in top of turning chain.

Row 5:

• Ch 3, turn. Dc in each shell across with 1 dc in each ch-1 space. (58 dc).

Repeat Rows 2-5:

Continue repeating these rows until the shawl reaches your desired length, approximately 30 inches, or until you run out of yarn.

Finishing:

• Fasten off and weave in all ends using a yarn needle.
• Optional: Add a border of single crochet around the entire shawl for a finished look.

Fringe (Optional):

• Cut yarn into 8-inch lengths. Attach 3 lengths of yarn to each end of the shawl, spacing them evenly.
