Materials Needed:
- 1 skein of medium weight yarn (approx. 200 yards in forest green)
- 5.5 mm (I-9) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- dc - double crochet
- sc - single crochet
- st - stitch
- sp - space
- rep - repeat
Gauge:
12 dc x 8 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch.
Instructions:
- Chain 75.
- Row 1: In 4th chain from hook, dc, then dc in each ch across. (73 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, *dc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * across to end. (36 dc, 37 sc)
- Row 3: Ch 3, *sc in next st, dc in next st; rep from * across to end, finishing with sc in top of turning chain. (37 dc, 36 sc)
- Rows 4-14: Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until your cowl reaches approximately 12 inches in height.
- Join the ends with a slip stitch to form a loop. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends with the tapestry needle.
Finishing:
Block gently to open up the stitches, if desired. This will enhance the texture and drape of your cowl.
