ELEGANT OPENWORK CHEVRON SHAWL
Materials Needed:
- DK weight yarn (approx. 400 yards)
- 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
9 double crochets and 5 rows = 4 inches in pattern
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Double crochet (dc)
- Shell (5 dc in same stitch)
Instructions:
Foundation Row:
Ch 52.
Row 1:
Dc in 4th ch from hook, *ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch; repeat from * across. Turn.
Row 2:
Ch 3 (counts as first dc), *5 dc in ch-2 space, ch 2, skip next dc; repeat from * across. Dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
Row 3:
Ch 3, dc in the same stitch, *ch 2, 5 dc in next ch-2 space, ch 2; repeat from * to last dc, dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until your shawl measures approximately 60 inches in length, or desired size.
Final Row:
Ch 1, sc in each dc and ch space across, ensuring to create a scalloped edge as you go. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing Touch:
Block your shawl to achieve the desired shape and define the openwork pattern.
