  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge:

Check gauge by crocheting a swatch; adjust hook size if necessary.

Finished Size:

50 inches across top edge, 29 inches from top to the bottom point.

Abbreviations:

  • ch: chain
  • dc: double crochet
  • sc: single crochet
  • st: stitch
  • sp: space
  • sk: skip
  • V-st: [dc, ch 1, dc] in indicated stitch

Pattern Instructions:

Base:

Foundation Row: Ch 5, join with sl st to form a ring.

Row 1:

Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in ring. Turn.

Row 2:

Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, ch 1, 3 dc in ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in last st. Turn.

Row 3:

Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, [ch 1, sk 2 dc, 3 dc in ch-1 sp] across, ch 1, 3 dc in last st. Turn.

Row 4:

Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), [3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1] across, dc in last st. Turn.

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until shawl measures approximately 29 inches from top to bottom point, ending on a Row 3 pattern repeat.

Edging:

Work a scallop edge: In the top edge working from point to point; [sk 2 dc, 5 dc in next st, sk 2 dc, sc in next st] repeat around.

Finishing:

Fasten off and weave in all ends with a tapestry needle. Block lightly to shape.
