Materials
- Worsted weight yarn in beige and pink
- Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- rep = repeat
Pattern
Hat Base
- With beige yarn, create a magic ring. Ch 1, work 8 sc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (8 sts)
- Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join with a sl st. (16 sts)
- Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, rep from * around. Join with a sl st. (24 sts)
- Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st*, rep from * around. Join with a sl st. (32 sts)
- Ch 1, *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st*, rep from * around. Join with a sl st. (40 sts)
- Continue increasing following this pattern until you reach 56 sts, then sc in each st around until the hat measures 6 inches from the center.
Earflaps (Make 2)
- Join beige yarn to one side of the hat. Ch 1, sc in 10 sts, turn.
- Ch 1, sc2tog, sc across, sc2tog at end. Turn.
- Repeat the last row until 2 sts remain.
- Fasten off.
Edging
- Join beige yarn to any st along the base of the hat, ch 1, sc evenly around, including earflaps. Join with sl st. Fasten off.
Bunny Ears (Make 2)
- With beige yarn, ch 10. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch. (9 sts)
- Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
- Continue in sc, decrease at both ends of the rows until 2 sts remain. Fasten off.
- Repeat the same with pink yarn, but create smaller ears by skipping the final row.
- Sew pink inner ears onto the beige larger ears.
- Sew ears onto the crown of the hat.
Ties
- Cut 6 strands of beige yarn, 24 inches long.
- Fold in half and attach to the end of each earflap.
- Braid the strands and secure with a knot, leaving a tassel at the end. Trim to desired length.
Weave in all ends to finish.
