Triangular Crochet Dishcloths

This pattern will guide you through making a set of three triangular dishcloths. Each dishcloth has a unique color scheme: a soft green, a warm pink, and a playful speckled yarn, showcasing beautiful textures and colors while remaining practical for daily use.

Materials

  • Worsted weight cotton yarn in three colors: green, pink, and a speckled yarn
  • Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge

4 inches x 4 inches = 12 stitches x 14 rows in double crochet.

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st = stitch

Instructions

  1. Foundation Chain: Start by making a slip knot and chaining 42 in the color of your choice.
  2. Row 1: In the 2nd chain from the hook, make 1 sc. Then, in each of the next chains, make 1 sc until the end of the row, for a total of 41 sc. Turn your work.
  3. Row 2: Ch 2 (this counts as your first dc). In the same st, make 1 dc, then make 2 dc in the next st. Continue this pattern for the row, making 1 dc in each st and 2 dc in every other st. You should end with 61 dc total. Turn your work.
  4. Row 3: Ch 1 (this counts as sc). In the first st, make 1 sc. Now in the next st, make 2 sc. Continue this pattern until the end of the row, increasing by 1 sc every other st. You should have 81 sc at the end. Turn your work.
  5. Row 4: Ch 2. In the first st, make 1 dc. Then in the next st, make 2 dc. Continue this pattern, making 1 dc in the next st and 2 dc in every other st, until the end. You should have 101 dc total by the end of the row. Turn your work.
  6. Repeat Rows 3 and 4: Continue alternating between row 3 and row 4 until the piece measures approximately 10 inches from the center point down the side. The last row should be row 3.
  7. Finishing: After reaching the desired size, cut your yarn, leaving a long tail for weaving. Pull the yarn through the last loop to secure it.
  8. Weaving in Ends: Use your yarn needle to weave in all ends carefully, ensuring your dishcloth is neat and tidy.
  9. Hanging Loop: To create a hanging loop, chain 12 in the color of your choosing, sl st into the top corner of the dishcloth, and cut yarn. Pull the yarn through to secure.

Repeat the above steps for each color until you have your desired set of three dishcloths.

Final Size

Each triangular dishcloth will measure approximately 10 inches on each side when completed.

Enjoy your new handmade dishcloths! They’re perfect for personal use or as charming gifts.
