Textured Cozy Oversized Shrug
Materials
- Chunky Weight Yarn (approximately 800-1200 yards depending on size)
- Needles: US size 11 (8mm) circular needles
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Stitch Abbreviations
- k = knit
- p = purl
- k2tog = knit two together
- yo = yarn over
Gauge
12 stitches and 16 rows = 4" in pattern stitch.
Finished Measurements
Width: 28" (adjustable), Length: 26" (from neck to hem)
Instructions
- Cast on 100 stitches using the long-tail method.
- Set up for pattern: (Row 1) *k2, p2; repeat from * to end of row.
- Row 2: *p2, k2; repeat from * to end of row.
- Continue alternating Row 1 and Row 2 until the piece measures 24" from the cast-on edge.
- Knit 4 rows in garter stitch (k all stitches) for the neck edge, then bind off loosely.
- For the sleeves, pick up 40 stitches along each side of the shrug and work in the same textured pattern until each sleeve measures 12" long. Bind off all stitches.
- Using the tapestry needle, weave in all ends.
- Block your shrug gently to open up the stitches and enhance the texture.
Customization
This shrug can be made in any size by adjusting the number of cast-on stitches and the length of the body and sleeves to your preference!
Care Instructions
Hand wash cold and lay flat to dry.
