Instructions
Body of the Pouch
- Cast on 40 stitches using the light green yarn.
- Work in Stockinette Stitch (knit one row, purl one row) until the piece measures 10 inches (25 cm) from the cast-on edge. This is approximately 20 rows.
Floral Pattern
- Switch to the red yarn to create the floral design. On the next row, knit the following pattern:
- Row 1 (RS): k3, (k5 in red, p2 in light green) twice, k3. Repeat this sequence until you reach the end of the row.
- Row 2 (WS): purl across.
- Repeat the floral pattern for 12 more rows, alternating between the RS and WS. You should finish with a total of 14 rows for the floral design.
Finishing the Pouch
- Binding Off: With the light green yarn, knit two rows in stockinette stitch.
- On the next row, knit 2 together across the row until you reach the end. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
- Fold the pouch in half, with the floral side inside. Sew the sides together, leaving the top open.
- Flip the pouch right side out and weave in any loose ends with a yarn needle.
Optional Embellishments
- If desired, you can create a small tie using brown yarn, threading it through the top of the pouch for closure.
Your floral knitted pouch is now complete! Use it to store small treasures, or give it as a thoughtful gift.
