Decorative Crochet Coasters Set Pattern

Materials

• Cotton crochet thread in red, blue, green, orange, yellow, and white
• Crochet hook size 2.5 mm
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Gauge

Not crucial for this project, but if you're using a different thread, ensure your coasters match approximately 4 inches in diameter for the round ones and 4x4 inches for the square ones.

Instructions

Round Coaster Pattern

Each round coaster uses a different color combination. Follow the base pattern and change colors as suited.

1. Begin with a magic ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as a dc), work 11 dc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the top of ch-3. (12 dc)
3. Round 2: Ch 3, dc in the same st, work 2 dc in each st around. Join with sl st. (24 dc)
4. Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join with sl st. (36 dc)
5. Round 4: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join with sl st. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Square Coaster Pattern

Each square coaster features a unique decorative pattern. Follow the base square pattern and embellish as desired.

1. Ch 12, join with sl st to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in the ring, *(ch 2, 3 dc in the ring) three times, ch 2, sl st to the top of ch-3 to join.
3. Round 2: Sl st into next 2 dc, sl st into ch-2 corner space, ch 3, 2 dc in ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in same space (corner made), *3 dc in gap between dc groups, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 space; repeat from * around. Join with sl st. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing

Use a tapestry needle to weave in any remaining ends. Block each coaster to shape to ensure a flat finish. Your decorative crochet coasters are now ready to use!
