Whimsical Textured Heart Pillows

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in 4 colors (e.g., pink, lavender, mint, peach)
• 5 mm crochet hook
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Single crochet (sc)
• Half double crochet (hdc)
• Slip stitch (sl st)

Size:

Approximately 10 inches wide.

Instructions:

Heart Shape (Make 2)

1. With color 1, Ch 4 (counts as first sc), join with sl st to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 1, 6 sc into ring. Join with a sl st to the first ch (6 sc).
3. Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each stitch around. Join (12 sc).
4. Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat around. Join (18 sc).
5. Round 4: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next* repeat around. Join (24 sc).
6. Round 5: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next* repeat around. Join (30 sc).
7. Round 6: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around. Join (30 sc).
8. Round 7: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 stitches, sc2tog* repeat around. Join (24 sc).
9. Round 8: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 stitches, sc2tog* repeat around. Join (18 sc).
10. Round 9: Ch 1, *sc in next stitch, sc2tog* repeat around. Join (12 sc).
11. Round 10: Ch 1, sc2tog until closing. Leave a long tail for sewing.
12. Repeat for the second heart, but do not fasten off.

Joining the Hearts:

1. Place the two heart pieces together, with the right sides facing each other.
2. Using color 2, attach yarn at the bottom point of the heart.
3. Sc around the perimeter, leaving a small gap at the bottom for stuffing.
4. Turn the hearts right side out and fill with fiberfill.
5. Finish sc around and fasten off.

Final Touches:

1. With color 3, create a small bow or embellishment for the front by making a ch of 15, then sc in each stitch back to the start. Tie off and sew onto the heart.
2. Repeat with the remaining colors for variety.

Care Instructions:

Spot clean or hand wash gently, reshape, and lay flat to dry.
