Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors
• Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
• Button for closure (optional)
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge: 10 dc = 4 inches

Finished Size: Approximately 5 inches wide x 4 inches tall

Instructions:

Base of Pouch:

1. With Color A, chain 24.
2. Row 1: In the 4th chain from hook, work 1 dc. Continue to dc across. (22 dc)
3. Row 2: Ch 2, turn. Work 1 front post double crochet (fpdc) in the first st, 1 back post double crochet (bpdc) in the next st. Repeat until end. (22 sts)
4. Rows 3-10: Repeat Row 2 for a total of 9 rows.
5. Change to Color B.
6. Row 11: Ch 2, turn. Work regular dc across. (22 dc)
7. Row 12: Repeat Row 2 in Color B for 4 more rows.
8. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Flap of Pouch:

1. With Color B, reattach yarn to the top of the last row of the pouch.
2. Chain 1, sc across the top edge. (22 sc)
3. Row 1: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (22 sc)
4. Row 2: Repeat Row 2 from Base of Pouch for a total of 5 rows.
5. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly:

1. Fold the pouch in half, with the flap at the top.
2. Whip stitch or sew the sides to secure the pouch. Leave the top open.
3. Attach the button to the center of the flap and sew a small loop of yarn on the pouch to act as a buttonhole.

Finishing Touch: You may want to add embellishments such as sequins, beads, or a decorative border around the top edge for extra charm!
