Playful Pastel Picnic Pouch Free Pattern
Materials:
- 4 colors of medium-weight cotton yarn (pastel pink, yellow, mint green, lavender)
- G/6 (4.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Button (for closure)
Gauge:
Not crucial for this project, but the base should measure approximately 5 inches in diameter.
Pattern Abbreviations:
- CH - Chain
- SC - Single Crochet
- DC - Double Crochet
- SL ST - Slip Stitch
Instructions:
Base:
- With pastel pink yarn, CH 4, SL ST into the first CH to form a ring.
- Round 1: CH 1, 6 SC into the ring (6 SC).
- Round 2: 2 SC in each SC around (12 SC).
- Round 3: *1 SC in next, 2 SC in next* repeat around (18 SC).
- Round 4: *1 SC in next 2, 2 SC in next* repeat around (24 SC).
- Round 5: *1 SC in next 3, 2 SC in next* repeat around (30 SC).
- Round 6-10: SC in each stitch around (30 SC). Change to yellow yarn at the end of round 10.
Body:
- With yellow yarn, continue for 5 rounds in SC (30 SC).
- Change to mint green yarn, continue for 5 rounds in SC (30 SC).
- Change to lavender yarn, continue for 5 rounds in SC (30 SC).
Top Edging:
- With pastels alternating, work a round of DC around the top, placing 1 DC in each SC (30 DC).
- Create a scalloped edge by working *5 DC in next, skip 1* around. Join with a SL ST to the first DC.
Handle:
- With lavender yarn, CH 50.
- SC in second CH from hook and across (49 SC).
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
- Repeat for a second handle in mint green yarn.
Assembly:
- Attach handles to each side of the pouch with the tapestry needle.
- Attach the button for closure, positioning it conveniently with the yarn tail.
- Embellish the front with a small flower by CH 7, joining to form a ring, and working 6 petals of SC. Attach to the front of the pouch.
Finishing Touches:
