Whimsical Textured Cable Knit Hoodie

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn (approx. 400 yards)
• Hook: 5.5mm (I-9)
• Stitch markers
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Gauge:

14 stitches x 18 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.

Sizes:

This pattern is designed for toddlers aged 2-4 years. For other sizes, adjust the number of stitches accordingly.

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• dc = double crochet
• cable = cable stitch (details below)
• puff = puff stitch (details below)

Cable Stitch:

To create a cable, work 2 dc in the front post of the previous row’s dc, then skip the next 2 dc and work 2 dc in the next front post. Repeat to create a cabling effect.

Puff Stitch:

Yarn over, insert hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through (you will have 4 loops on your hook), yarn over again and pull through 2 loops. Repeat twice more in the same stitch, then yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.

Pattern Instructions:

Body:

1. Chain 60 (or desired width).

6. Repeat rows 11-18 until the body reaches desired length (approx. 12-14 inches).
7. Fasten off and set aside.

Sleeves (make 2):

1. Chain 30 (or desired sleeve width).
2. Row 1: dc in the 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn.
3. Rows 2-8: ch 3, dc in each st across. Turn.
4. Row 9: ch 3, *dc in next 3 sts, cable in next 2 sts; repeat from * across to end.
5. Row 10: ch 3, *dc in next 4 sts, puff in next st; repeat from * across to end.
6. Repeat rows 9-10 until it reaches desired length for sleeves (approximately 10-12 inches).

Assembly:

1. Join the body to the sleeves at the armholes with slip stitches.
2. For the hood, attach yarn to the neck edge and work in rows, repeating dc and puff stitches to build the height of the hood (approx. 8-10 inches).
3. Finish with a row of sc around the entire body and sleeves for a neat edge.
4. Weave in all ends.
