Whimsical Nature-Inspired Gnome Amigurumi Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn in cream, green, and brown
  • 4.0 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker

Abbreviations Used:

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in same st)
  • dec = decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)
  • sl st = slip stitch

Height: Approximately 16 cm (6.3 inches) tall

Instructions:

Body:

  1. Ch 4 and join to form a ring.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in ring (6).
  3. Round 2: Inc in each st around (12).
  4. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat around (18).
  5. Round 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat around (24).
  6. Rounds 5-8: Sc in each st (24).
  7. Round 9: (2 sc, dec) repeat around (18).
  8. Round 10: (1 sc, dec) repeat around (12).
  9. Start stuffing the body with fiberfill.
  10. Round 11: Dec around (6). Finish off and close hole. Secure yarn end.

Hat:

  1. Ch 4 and join to form a ring.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in ring (6).
  3. Round 2: Inc in each st around (12).
  4. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat around (18).
  5. Round 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat around (24).
  6. Rounds 5-10: Sc in each st (24).
  7. Round 11: (2 sc, dec) repeat around (18).
  8. Round 12: (1 sc, dec) repeat around (12).
  9. Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing. Do not stuff.

Beard:

  1. Using cream yarn, ch 10.
  2. Row 1: Starting from the second ch from hook, sc across (9).
  3. Row 2: Ch 1, turn, inc, 7 sc, inc (11).
  4. Row 3: Ch 1, turn, inc, 9 sc, inc (13). Finish off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly:

  1. Attach the beard to the bottom of the hat using the long tail.
  2. Place the hat onto the head of the body and sew together securely.
  3. Attach a small brown pom-pom to the tip of the hat.
  4. Create leaves by chaining 8, and then, in the second ch from hook, sc, hdc, dc, leaving the last 4 stitches unworked. Fold and sew to the sides of the gnome.
