Crochet Whimsical Lucky Clover Coaster Free Pattern
Materials
- Medium weight cotton yarn in green (approximately 50 grams)
- 4.0 mm crochet hook
- Fibers fill or cotton padding (optional)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Gauge
Determining the gauge isn’t crucial for this project; however, if you want to create a larger coaster, adjust your hook size accordingly.
Stitches Used
- Magic Ring
- Single Crochet (sc)
- Half Double Crochet (hdc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
- Chain (ch)
Instructions
Leaf Sections (make 4)
- Start with a magic ring.
- Round 1: Ch 1, 8 sc into the ring. Pull the ring tight. (8 stitches)
- Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (16 stitches)
- Round 3: *sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat around. (24 stitches)
- Round 4: *sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat around. (32 stitches)
- Round 5: *hdc in next 2 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch* repeat around. (40 stitches)
- Finish with a sl st to the first hdc. Leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembling Leaves
- Using the long tail, sew the leaves together at the base, overlapping slightly to create a full clover shape.
Stem
- Ch 10.
- Row 1: Starting from the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each chain to the end (9 stitches).
- Row 2-3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across.
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for attaching to the leaf cluster.
- Attach the stem to the base of the clover using the tail.
Finishing Touches
- If you want added stability, insert fibers fill in the leaves while sewing them closed.
- Weave in all ends securely.
