Crochet Whimsical Jack-o'-Lantern Pot Holder Free Pattern

Materials Required:

• Size H/8 (5.00mm) crochet hook
• 2 skeins cotton worsted weight (4) yarn in orange
• 1 skein cotton worsted weight (4) yarn in green
• 1 skein cotton worsted weight (4) yarn in black
• 1 skein cotton worsted weight (4) yarn in yellow
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors
• Stitch markers

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Slip stitch (sl st)
• Single crochet (sc)
• Half double crochet (hdc)

Instructions:

Jack-o'-Lantern Body:

1. With orange yarn, ch 30.
2. Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch across. (28 hdc)
3. Row 2: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each st across. (28 hdc)
4. Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 10 inches tall. Fasten off.

Jack-o'-Lantern Face:

1. With black yarn, create features: ch 5 for eyes, sl st around, fasten off. Repeat for the mouth.
2. Attach features to the center of the body using tapestry needle and secure.

Top Leaf:

1. With green yarn, ch 10.
2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 4 ch, ch 3, turn. (5 sc)
3. Row 2: Sc in first 5 st. Fasten off; leave a long tail for attaching.
4. Use the tail to sew the leaf to the top of the Jack-o'-Lantern.

Finishing Touches:

1. Using yellow yarn, create a small oval for a candle light. Attach it to the center of the face.
2. Weave in any loose ends.

Care Instructions:

Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry.
