Whimsical Frosty Penguin Amigurumi Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn: White, Black, Orange, and Blue
- 3.5 mm crochet hook
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Safety eyes (8 mm)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- dec - decrease
- inc - increase
- sl st - slip stitch
Penguin Body:
- With White yarn, magic ring: 6 sc in ring (6)
- Round 2: Inc in each st (12)
- Round 3: (sc in next st, inc) x 6 (18)
- Round 4: (sc in next 2 sts, inc) x 6 (24)
- Rounds 5-10: sc in each st (24)
- Round 11: (sc in next 2 sts, dec) x 6 (18)
- Round 12: (sc in next st, dec) x 6 (12)
- Stuff the body with fiberfill.
- Round 13: Dec 6 times (6)
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Penguin Head:
- With Black yarn, magic ring: 6 sc in ring (6)
- Round 2: Inc in each st (12)
- Round 3: (sc in next st, inc) x 6 (18)
- Rounds 4-7: sc in each st (18)
- Round 8: (sc in next st, dec) x 6 (12)
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Penguin Wings (make 2):
- With Black yarn, ch 4.
- Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 2 ch (3)
- Row 2: ch 1, turn, dec (2)
- Row 3: ch 1, turn, dec (1)
- Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Beak:
- With Orange yarn, ch 3.
- Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and next ch (2)
- Row 2: ch 1, turn, dec (1)
- Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Scarf:
- With Blue yarn, ch 30.
- Row 1: sc in each ch (29)
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly:
- Sew the head to the body.
- Attach the safety eyes and sew on the beak just below the eyes.
- Attach wings to either side of the body.
- Wrap the scarf around the penguin’s neck.
Hat:
- With Blue yarn, ch 4, join to form a ring.
- Round 1: 10 sc in ring (10)
- Round 2: (sc in next st, inc) x 5 (15)
- Rounds 3-5: sc in each st (15)
- Round 6: (sc in next 5 sts, dec) x 3 (12)
- Round 7: (sc in next 4 sts, dec) x 3 (9)
- Round 8: (sc in next 3 sts, dec) x 3 (6)
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Finishing Touches:
For a cute pom-pom, use leftover Blue yarn to make a small pom-pom and sew it to the top of the hat. Let your whimsical penguin greet your guests with joy!
