Crochet Whimsical Festive Cozy Gnome Luminary Free Pattern

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in the following colors:
• Beige (for skin)
• Red (for hat)
• Green (for scarf)
• White (for beard)
• Black (for buttons)
• Crochet Hook: H (5 mm)
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• 2 small black buttons for eyes
• 1 quart mason jar (for the base)
• Fiberfill stuffing (optional)

Gauge: Not essential for this project.

Pattern Notes:

This gnome is worked in rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.

Instructions:

Body:

1. With Beige yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
3. Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12)
4. Round 3: *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* repeat around (18)
5. Round 4-8: sc in each st around (18)
6. Round 9: *sc in next st, sc2tog* repeat around (12)
7. Stuff lightly with fiberfill (if using).
8. Round 10: sc in each st around (12)
9. Round 11: sc2tog around (6)
10. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Hat:

1. With Red yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
3. Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12)
4. Round 3: *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* repeat around (18)
5. Rounds 4-6: sc in each st around (18)
6. Round 7: *sc in next st, sc2tog* repeat around (12)
7. Round 8: sc2tog around (6)
8. Fasten off and sew to top of the body.

Beard:

1. With White yarn, make a chain of 12.
2. Row 1: sc in second chain from hook, sc across.
3. Fasten off and sew along the bottom of the face, adjusting the shape as desired.

Scarf:

1. With Green yarn, chain 30.
2. Row 1: hdc in second chain from hook and across.
3. Fasten off and wrap around the neck of your gnome.

Finishing:

1. Sew on black buttons for eyes.
2. Use a black thread to stitch a smile.
3. Place the luminary over a quart mason jar.
4. Add a candle or lights inside for a lovely glow!
