Cozy Fall Gnome Stack
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in orange, green, cream, and brown
- 4mm crochet hook
- Safety eyes (optional)
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but aim for a tight enough stitch to prevent stuffing from showing through.
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- inc - increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
- dec - decrease (sc2tog)
- sl st - slip stitch
- st - stitch
Gnome Body (make 3):
Base:
- With orange yarn, ch 2.
- Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6).
- Round 2: Inc in each st around (12).
- Round 3: (1 sc, inc) around (18).
- Round 4: (2 sc, inc) around (24).
- Round 5-10: Sc in each st around (24).
- Round 11: (2 sc, dec) around (18).
- Round 12: (1 sc, dec) around (12).
- Stuff the gnome and continue to the next round.
- Round 13: Dec around (6). Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Hat:
- With green yarn, ch 2.
- Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6).
- Round 2: Inc in each st around (12).
- Rounds 3-5: Sc in each st around (12).
- Round 6: Dec around (6). Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Assembly:
- Sew the hat onto the top of the gnome body.
- Using cream yarn, embroider a beard.
- Attach the safety eyes or embroider eyes.
Finishing Touches:
To create the stack, sew the gnomes together, starting from the largest at the bottom to the smallest at the top. You can create a small pumpkin or acorn for a final touch, using similar techniques and colors!
