Cozy Fall Gnome Stack

Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in orange, green, cream, and brown
- 4mm crochet hook
- Safety eyes (optional)
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Scissors

Gauge:

Gauge is not crucial for this project, but aim for a tight enough stitch to prevent stuffing from showing through.

Abbreviations:

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
  • dec - decrease (sc2tog)
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • st - stitch

Gnome Body (make 3):

Base:

  1. With orange yarn, ch 2.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6).
  3. Round 2: Inc in each st around (12).
  4. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) around (18).
  5. Round 4: (2 sc, inc) around (24).
  6. Round 5-10: Sc in each st around (24).
  7. Round 11: (2 sc, dec) around (18).
  8. Round 12: (1 sc, dec) around (12).
  9. Stuff the gnome and continue to the next round.
  10. Round 13: Dec around (6). Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Hat:

  1. With green yarn, ch 2.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6).
  3. Round 2: Inc in each st around (12).
  4. Rounds 3-5: Sc in each st around (12).
  5. Round 6: Dec around (6). Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Assembly:

  1. Sew the hat onto the top of the gnome body.
  2. Using cream yarn, embroider a beard.
  3. Attach the safety eyes or embroider eyes.

Finishing Touches:

To create the stack, sew the gnomes together, starting from the largest at the bottom to the smallest at the top. You can create a small pumpkin or acorn for a final touch, using similar techniques and colors!
