Crochet Whimsical Colorful Ladybug Cocoon Set

Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in red, black, and white
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook

Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- rnd = round
Instructions:
Cocoon:
- Using red yarn, create a slip knot and chain 60.
- Join to form a ring, being careful not to twist the chain.
- Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around (60 sc). Join with sl st to first sc.
- Round 2: Ch 2, dc in same stitch, then dc in next stitch. *Ch 1, skip 1, dc in next stitch; repeat from * around. Join with sl st.
- Round 3: Ch 1, sc in each ch-1 space around (30 sc). Join with sl st.
- Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 until cocoon measures 24 inches in length or desired length.
- Finish off and weave in all ends.
Hat:
- Using red yarn, chain 40 and join to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around (40 sc). Join with sl st.
- Round 2: Ch 2, dc in each stitch around (40 dc). Join with sl st.
- Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next stitch, hdc in next stitch; repeat from * around (60 total). Join with sl st.
- Repeat until the hat measures approximately 8 inches long.
- Top: Ch 5, sl st back into first ch to form a loop. *Ch 3, sk 1 st, sl st in the next; repeat to form antennas. (2 antennas total).
- Add safety eyes to the front of the hat if desired for more ladybug charm.
- Finish off and weave in all ends.
Finishing Touch:
