Crochet Whimsical Cloud and Raindrop Garland
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight (4) yarn in white, blue, yellow, and pink
- 5.0 mm (H) and 4.0 mm (G) crochet hooks
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
Not critical for this project, but ensure clouds measure approximately 4 inches wide.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
Cloud Pattern (Make 5):
1. Create a magic ring. 2. Round 1: Ch 2, 12 dc in the ring (join with sl st to top of first dc). 3. Round 2: Ch 2, *2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st; repeat from * around (18 dc). 4. Round 3: Ch 2, *2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 2 st; repeat from * around (24 dc). 5. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. 6. Lightly stuff the cloud with fiberfill as you sew the edges closed.
Raindrop Pattern (Make 10):
1. Ch 5. 2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, 5 dc in last ch (turning to work down the other side). 3. Row 2: Hdc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in last st. 4. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
1. Cut a long length of yarn for the garland base (about 6 feet). 2. Use the yarn needle to thread the clouds and raindrops onto the yarn, spacing them as desired. 3. Tie knots to secure the elements in place. Add additional decorative elements if desired. 4. Hang solidly for display!
Customizations:
- Experiment with different colors for clouds and raindrops!
- Add more elements like sun or stars for variety.
