- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers (optional)
Gauge: 4 inches = 12 stitches in double crochet
Flower Motif Instructions:
- With bright pink, make a magic ring.
- Round 1: Chain 3 (counts as 1st dc), 11 dc in the ring. Pull tight to close the ring. Join with a slip stitch in the top of the beginning chain 3. (12 dc)
- Round 2: Change to sun yellow. Chain 1, *2 sc in next dc, 1 sc in next dc; repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch. (18 sc)
- Round 3: Change to ocean blue. Slip stitch into the first sc. Chain 2, (2 dc, chain 2, 2 dc) in the same stitch, *skip 2 sc, (2 dc, chain 2, 2 dc) in next sc; repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch. (6 petals)
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Joining Motifs:
- Make the desired number of flower motifs (about 30-40 for a throw blanket).
- To join, use a contrasting color yarn. Lay two motifs with petals facing each other.
- Using slip stitches, join the edges of the motifs together by going through chains at the edges of petals and matching them. This can be done row by row until the entire blanket is finished.
Border:
- Attach the contrasting color yarn at any corner of the blanket.
- Chain 1, work a round of single crochet (sc) evenly around, working 3 sc in each corner stitch.
- Change color every time you complete a side with your chosen colors (like lavender and grass green).
- Work 3 rounds in total for a decorative border. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing:
Lay your blanket flat and block if necessary to achieve a crisp look. Enjoy the cozy, vibrant addition to your home!
