Crochet Textured Warmth Modern Poncho Free Pattern
Materials:
- 4 skeins of bulky weight yarn (approx. 200 yards each)
- 6.5 mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge: 10 x 10 cm = 8 stitches and 9 rows in textured stitch
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- tr = triple crochet
- st = stitch
Instructions:
Piece A (Front Panel):
- Ch 56.
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 5 chs, (tr in next ch, sc in next ch) repeat to end, turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3, (sc in next tr, tr in next sc) repeat to end, ensure to finish with a dc, turn.
- Repeat Rows 1-2 until piece measures 28 inches or desired length.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Piece B (Back Panel):
- Ch 56.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 chs, (dc in next ch, tr in next ch) repeat to end, turn.
- Row 2: Ch 1, (tr in next sc, dc in next dc) repeat to end, ensure to finish with a sc, turn.
- Repeat Rows 1-2 until piece measures 28 inches or desired length.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
- Align the two panels together, right sides facing.
- Using your tapestry needle, sew the sides together from the bottom up to create armholes (about 10 inches wide).
- Once sewn, fold down the top edge to create a cowl neck and secure it in place with slip stitches or by sewing.
- Weave in all ends and finish off.
