Crochet Textured Twisted Loop Mug Cozy Free Pattern

Materials

  • Light worsted #3 yarn (approx. 50g)
  • 4.00mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Stitches Used

  • Chain (ch)
  • Single Crochet (sc)
  • Double Crochet (dc)
  • Twisted Loop Stitch

Gauge

Gauge is not critical for this project, but ensure your fabric is firm yet flexible.

Instructions

Starting Chain

Ch 36.

Row 1

Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (35 sc)

Row 2

Ch 1, turn. Sc in each sc across. (35 sc)

Row 3

Ch 1, turn. *Dc in the next sc, ch 1, pull the loop up and twist it before making the next dc in the same st* repeat from * to * until the end of the row. (You should have 35 twisted loops)

Row 4

Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (35 sc)

Repeat Rows 3-4

Continue repeating Rows 3 and 4 until your work reaches a length that wraps around your mug (about 8-10 rows in total).

Finishing

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Wrap the cozy around your mug and sew the ends together. Weave in all loose ends.

Optional: Add Buttons

For an extra touch, sew a couple of buttons onto the cozy for decorative purposes or to secure the ends more firmly.

Care Instructions

Hand wash and lay flat to dry.
