Crochet Table Runner Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn (approximately 300 yards in cream color)
- Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
10 double crochets (dc) and 6 rows = 4 inches square.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
Instructions:
- Foundation Row: Begin by chaining 40.
- Row 1: In the 4th chain from the hook, make 1 dc. Continue to dc in each chain across. (38 dc total). Turn your work.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc). In the same st, make 1 dc. *Skip the next stitch, make 2 dc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. You should end with 1 dc in the last stitch. Turn your work.
- Row 3: Ch 3. In the same stitch, make 1 dc. *In the next 2 dc from the previous row, make 1 dc in each.* Repeat from * to * until the end of the row, placing 1 dc in the top of the turning chain. Turn your work.
- Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
- Row 5: Repeat Row 3.
- Continue repeating Rows 2 and 3 until your piece measures 12 inches from the starting chain.
- Border: To finish, chain 1, and sc evenly around the entire edge of the runner, placing 3 sc in each corner to create a smooth finish. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
- Fasten off and weave in any loose ends using the tapestry needle.
Final Measurements:
The finished table runner should measure approximately 12 inches wide by 48 inches long.
