Instructions:
Foundation Row:
Chain 48.
Row 1: Double crochet (DC) in the 4th chain from the hook, DC in each chain across (46 DC). Turn.
Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as first DC here and throughout), DC in the next stitch, *skip 1 stitch, DC in the next 2 stitches*, repeat from * to * until the last stitch, DC in the last stitch. Turn.
Row 3: Chain 3, DC in the next stitch, *skip 1 stitch, DC in the next 2 stitches*, repeat from * to * until the last stitch, DC in the last stitch. Turn.
Repeat Rows 2-3: Continue until the piece measures approximately 25 inches from the foundation row.
Neckband: On the last row, chain 1, SC in each stitch across for a tighter fitting. Turn.
Assembly:
Fold the piece in half to create the poncho shape. Slip stitch along the sides for approximately 10 inches on each side to create armholes.
