Snuggly Textured Baby Blanket
Yarn: Bulky weight yarn, approximately 6 skeins (size 5) in your favorite color
Hook: 9 mm (M/N) crochet hook
Size: Approximately 36" x 36" (90 cm x 90 cm)
Special Stitches:
- Cluster Stitch: [Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through two loops on hook] repeat 3 times in same stitch.
- Slip Stitch: Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through both loops on hook.
Instructions:
- Foundation Chain: Ch 50 (or desired width, making sure to keep it even).
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (this is your first cluster), *skip 2 chs, cluster in next ch; repeat from * across the row. (You'll have clusters separated by 2 chain spaces.) Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 1 (this counts as a stitch), *skip the first cluster and slip stitch into the next cluster (this creates the texture), cluster in the next 2 chains; repeat from * across the row. Turn.
- Continue repeating Row 1 and Row 2 until your blanket reaches approximately 36". (You may need more or fewer rows based on your tension.)
- Final Row: Ch 1, slip stitch across to finish neatly. Cut yarn and weave in any ends.
Finishing:
Gently block your blanket to even out your stitches and enhance the texture. It's now ready to keep your baby cozy!
