Crochet Snug Textured Puff Stitch Fingerless Mitts
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (approx. 150 yards)
- 6.5 mm (K-10.5) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
12 dc x 8 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.
Size:
One size fits most adults.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- puff = puff stitch (5 dc together)
- sl st = slip stitch
Instructions:
Cuff: (Make 2)
- Ch 12.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (11 sc). Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until the cuff measures 6 inches long.
- Sl st the ends together to form a loop. Finish off, leaving a long end for sewing.
Body of Mitts:
- With main yarn, ch 30.
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across (28 dc). Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 2, puff in first dc, skip next dc, *puff in next dc, skip next dc; repeat from * across (14 puffs). Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each puff across (14 sc). Turn.
- Row 4: Ch 2, *puff in next sc, skip next sc; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 3-4 until the piece measures 6 inches from the starting chain.
- Fold the piece in half, aligning the bottom edge, and sew the side seams, leaving space for the thumb (approximately 2 inches). Finish off.
Assembling:
- Attach the cuffs to the tops of the mitts by sewing them securely, ensuring the seamed edges align neatly.
- Weave in any loose ends with the yarn needle.
