Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn (approx. 400 yards)
• 5.0 mm (H) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Stuffing or pillow form (16" x 16")

Stitch Abbreviations:

• ch - chain
• sc - single crochet
• dc - double crochet
• tr - triple crochet
• sl st - slip stitch

Gauge: 16 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in dc stitch.

Instructions:

Petal Stitch Square

Make 2 squares for the front and back of the pillow cover.

1. Chain 36.
2. Row 1: In 4th ch from hook, dc, then dc in next 2 ch, *ch 2, skip next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch; repeat from * to end. Turn.
3. Row 2: Ch 3, dc in the next dc, *ch 2, skip next 2 ch, dc in next 3 dc; repeat from * to end. Turn.
4. Repeat Row 2 until you have 16 rows total, ending with Row 2.
5. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly

1. Place the two squares with the right sides together.
2. Ch 1, sc around all four sides, joining the squares. Leave an opening on one side for stuffing.
3. Turn the pillow cover right side out and stuff with the pillow form or stuffing.
4. Continue sc around the edge to close the opening. Fasten off and weave in ends.
