Crochet Rustic Textured Cabled Throw Blanket

Materials:

  • Chunky weight yarn (approximately 1200 yards)
  • Size N (10 mm) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving ends

Gauge: 8 stitches and 6 rows in double crochet will create a 4" x 4" square. Gauge is not critical for this project, but it will affect the finished size.

Pattern Stitches Used:

  • Chain (ch)
  • Double Crochet (dc)
  • Cable Stitch
  • Foundation Single Crochet (fsc)

Finished Size:

Approximately 48" x 60" (can be customized by adjusting the starting chain).

Instructions:

  1. Foundation: Start with 90 fsc (or ch 92, then turn and dc in the 4th ch from hook and across row).
  2. Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in each st across. Turn.
  3. Row 2: Ch 2, dc in first st, *cable stitch in next 4 sts (yarn over, insert hook in st, pull up loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook twice), dc in next st*; repeat from * to * across. Turn.
  4. Row 3: Ch 2, dc in each dc across. Turn.
  5. Row 4: Ch 2, dc in first st, *dc in next 4 sts, cable stitch in next 4 sts, dc in next st*; repeat from * to * across. Turn.
  6. Rep Rows 2-4 until the blanket reaches your desired length, ending with a Row 3 (total of about 40 rows or desired height).
  7. Border: Switch to a single crochet border: Ch 1, sc evenly around the blanket, placing 3 sc in each corner. Slip stitch to finish the round and fasten off.

Finishing:

Weave in any loose ends with a tapestry needle. Block your blanket lightly if necessary to even out the stitches.

Care Instructions:

Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry to maintain the blanket’s texture.
