Modern Textured Stripe Pot Holder Pattern
Materials:
- Cotton yarn in 3 contrasting colors
- Size H (5 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Measurements:
Final size approximately 10" x 10" (25 cm x 25 cm) when finished and folded.
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Double crochet (dc)
- Front-post double crochet (fpdc)
Pattern Instructions:
Base Layer
- With Color A, ch 30.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (29 sc)
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), turn, dc in each sc across. (29 dc)
- Row 3: Ch 1, turn, *fpdc around next dc, dc in next; repeat from * across. End with dc in last st. (29 stitches)
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3, alternating between colors as follows:
- Row 4-6: Use Color B.
- Row 7-9: Use Color C.
- Row 10-12: Use Color A.
- Continue until you have a total of 12 rows, or desired height.
Finish Base
- Change to Color A for the final round. Ch 1, sc evenly around the entire square. Join with sl st to the first sc.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Creating the Double Layer
- Fold the square in half with right sides facing each other.
- Using Color A, join yarn at a corner. Sc through both layers, joining them together, making sure to only work through the front loops of each layer.
- Continue sc around, leaving a small gap for turning right side out.
- Turn the pot holder right side out through the gap.
- Close the gap with sc, then finish with a round of sc around the edge for a clean finish.
Hanging Loop (optional)
- With Color A, ch 10, sl st into the top corner to create a loop. Fasten off and weave in ends.
