Lush Blooming Petals Blanket Free Pattern

Materials Required:

  • Yarn: Lion Brand Yarn Heartland - Forest Green (2 skeins), Lion Brand Yarn Basic Stitch - Sunflower (3 skeins), Lion Brand Yarn Basic Stitch - Cream (3 skeins)
  • Hook: Size H/8 (5mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge: 12 double crochet stitches = 4 inches in double crochet.

Finished Size: Blanket measures approximately 36" x 40".

Pattern Instructions:

Flower Motif (Make 12)

  1. Round 1: With Sunflower yarn, make a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in the ring, pull tight, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)
  2. Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each stitch around, join. (24 dc)
  3. Round 3: Ch 1, *dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch; repeat from * around, join. (36 dc)
  4. Round 4: Ch 3, *skip 1 stitch, 5 tr in next stitch, skip 1 stitch, sc in next stitch; repeat from * around, join. (12 petals)
  5. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Leaf Motif (Make 6)

  1. Ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 5 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. (1 leaf formed)
  2. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembling the Blanket

  1. Arrange the flower motifs in a pleasing layout, using 3 rows of 4 flowers each.
  2. Join the motifs using a slip stitch to attach each flower’s edges to the next.
  3. Attach leaf motifs between flowers as desired, sewing them in place with a tapestry needle.

Border

  1. With Cream yarn, attach yarn at any corner of the blanket.
  2. Ch 1, sc evenly around the entire blanket, placing 3 sc in each corner to round it off.
  3. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
