Materials Needed:

  • Sport weight cotton yarn in your choice of colors (Approx. 300 yards)
  • Size E/3 (3.5 mm) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers

Abbreviations:

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • tr - triple crochet
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • sp - space
  • rnd - round

Pattern:

Round 1:

Start with a magic ring. Ch 3 (counts as your first dc), 11 dc into the ring. Pull tight to close the ring. Join with sl st in top of the first ch-3. (12 dc)

Round 2:

Ch 3, dc in same st, *2 dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join with sl st in top of the first ch-3. (24 dc)

Round 3:

Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join with sl st in top of the first ch-3. (36 dc)

Round 4:

Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join with sl st in top of the first ch-3. (48 dc)

Round 5:

Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join with sl st in top of the first ch-3. (60 dc)

Round 6:

Ch 3, dc in next st, *dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join with sl st in top of the first ch-3. (72 dc)

Round 7:

In the next rnd, begin the floral pattern. Ch 4, *1 tr in next st, ch 3, sl st to the base of the tr; repeat from * around. (72 petals)

Round 8:

In the spaces formed by the petals, make 3 dc in each space. Join with sl st.

Finish:

Cut yarn and weave in ends. Block your mandala for a beautiful finish.
