Crochet Cozy Textured Chevron Baby Blanket Free Pattern
Finished Size: Approximately 30” x 40”
Materials:
- 4 skeins of soft bulky yarn (approx. 100 yards each)
- Size N (10mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends
Stitch Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- tr = triple crochet
- st = stitch
- yo = yarn over
- sk = skip
Pattern Notes:
- This blanket is made using a repeating chevron pattern which creates a lovely textured appearance.
- Work in multiples of 14 plus 2 for your foundation chain for a wider blanket.
Instructions:
Foundation Row:
- Ch 46.
- Row 1: In 4th ch from hook, work 1 dc. *Ch 2, sk 2 ch, work 3 dc in next ch (this forms the chevron peak). Ch 2, sk 2 ch, work 1 dc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Turn.
Body of Blanket:
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 1 dc in same st. *Ch 2, sk 2 sts, work 3 dc in next st. Ch 2, sk 2 sts, work 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, work 1 dc in same st, work 1 hdc, 1 sc in the next stitches until you reach the chevron peak. In the peak, work 3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr. Continue with 1 sc, 1 hdc in the next stitches. Repeat to end. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the blanket reaches your desired length.
Finishing:
- Fasten off and weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
- Optional: Add a scalloped border by working a round of (sc, ch 3, sc) into each corner and sc evenly along the edges.
