Crochet Cheery Whimsical Bumblebee Lip Balm Holder Free Pattern
In this pattern, you'll create a cheerful bumblebee lip balm holder that is both cute and functional. This project is perfect for using up your yarn scraps and can be customized to fit various lip balm sizes.
Materials Needed:
- Yarn in 3 colors: Yellow (50g), Black (25g), White (25g) - DK weight cotton yarn
- Crochet hook size E (3.5 mm)
- Safety eyes or embroider eyes
- Darning needle
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
- Optional: a small metal keyring or clip for attachment
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- inc - increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
- dec - decrease (single crochet two stitches together)
- sl st - slip stitch
Body:
Round 1: With yellow yarn, make a magic ring and ch 1, 6 sc into the ring (6)
Round 2: Inc in each stitch around (12)
Round 3: *sc in next stitch, inc in next* repeat around (18)
Round 4: *sc in next 2 stitches, inc in next* repeat around (24)
Rounds 5-10: sc in each stitch around (24)
Round 11: *sc in next 2 stitches, dec* repeat around (18)
Round 12: *sc in next stitch, dec* repeat around (12)
Round 13: Dec around (6)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff lightly and sew opening closed.
Wings (Make 2):
Round 1: With white yarn, make a magic ring and ch 1, 4 sc into the ring (4)
Round 2: *inc in next stitch, sc in next* repeat around (6)
Round 3: *inc, sc in next 2* repeat (9)
Finish off and leave a tail for sewing. Lightly stuff for dimension.
Face:
Add safety eyes or embroider eyes and a simple smile. You can use black yarn for the stripes and facial details.
Assembly:
- Sew the wings to the back of the body.
- Sew on the facial features.
- If using, attach the keyring to the top of the bumblebee’s head.
