Cozy Ribbed Knit Beanie
- Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (approximately 150 yards) in a warm rust color
- Pair of 5 mm (US 8) knitting needles
- Stitch marker
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Measuring tape
- Gauge:
- Abbreviations:
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- St(s): Stitch(es)
- RS: Right side
- WS: Wrong side
- CO: Cast on

- Start by casting on 80 stitches on your knitting needles. Make sure not to twist your stitches and place a stitch marker to mark the start of the round.
- Next, you will work in a ribbing pattern. Row 1: *K2, P2* repeat from * to * until the end of the round.
- Continue this pattern for a total of 12 rows. This will create the textured ribbed look of your beanie.
- After completing the ribbing, let’s transition to the body of the beanie. Row 13: K every stitch around.
- Repeat Row 13 for the next 20 rounds, ensuring that you maintain the same tension as before.
- Now it’s time to shape the crown of your beanie. Decreasing begins:
- Round 1: *K8, K2tog* repeat from * to * until the end of the round.
- Round 2: K all stitches.
- Round 3: *K7, K2tog* repeat from * to * until the end of the round.
- Round 4: K all stitches.
- Round 5: *K6, K2tog* repeat from * to * until the end of the round.
- Round 6: K all stitches.
- Round 7: *K5, K2tog* repeat from * to * until the end of the round.
- Round 8: K all stitches.
- Round 9: *K4, K2tog* repeat from * to * until the end of the round.
- Round 10: K all stitches.
- Round 11: *K3, K2tog* repeat from * to * until the end of the round.
- Round 12: K all stitches.
- Round 13: *K2, K2tog* repeat from * to * until the end of the round.
- Round 14: K all stitches.
- Round 15: *K1, K2tog* repeat from * to * until the end of the round.
- Round 16: K2tog until you have 8 stitches left.
- Once you have 8 stitches left, cut the yarn leaving a tail approximately 6 inches long. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the hole at the top of the beanie.
- Weave in any loose ends using your yarn needle.
- Your cozy ribbed knit beanie is now complete! Wear it to stay warm and stylish, or gift it to someone special.
4 stitches and 5 rows = 1 inch in ribbing pattern.
